For Beginners
Whether you’ve never stepped on a yoga mat, or have taken a few classes and want a more customized practice based on your experience and interests, our 1-on-1 sessions will deliver just what you are looking for.  Practicing in your home with an experienced teacher will give you the freedom and security to experience yoga as it was meant to be – an intuitive flow that explores your strengths, respects your limits, and changes with you as your abilities evolve.

During your sessions you will learn foundational poses and flow through balanced sequences. Need props to comfortably achieve a pose? We bring them to every session.  Not sure what that even means? Let us show you!

For Injury or Illness Recovery
If you are recovering from an injury, or are experiencing pain or fatigue related to an illness, yoga is a powerful holistic tool that can support you in your recovery process. Yoga can serve as an adjunct to the treatment you may be receiving from a Physical Therapist, Chiropractor or other specialist, building on the strength, range of motion, balance or endurance you’ve be working hard to recover. Yoga can also help you regain confidence and compassion for your body, after experiencing the fear and doubt that often accompanies injury or illness.

With over eight years of experience in rehabilitation, we understand the recovery process, and are well prepared to design safe, effective yoga sessions geared towards your specific needs. You will safely move from pose to pose in a way that makes you feel alive, strong and balanced, and finish your practice feeling grounded and focused – the perfect frame of mind for healing.

For Pelvic Pain
Pelvic pain (or pain in the lower abdomen or groin) can have many causes.  For some with pelvic pain, symptoms are felt in the pelvic floor, an area of muscles and other tissues at the very bottom of your pelvis, between your “sits” bones. These muscles work to control elimination and literally hold your pelvic organs in place. Pain in this area can be experienced as pain with sex, pain with elimination and/or personal hygiene, or more constant pain that is present no matter what you do.

While any pelvic pain should be evaluated by a doctor (such as an Ob/Gyn, Proctologist, or Urogynecologist) to determine if the pain is due to an underlying medical issue, pelvic pain can sometimes be the result of excessive tension in the muscles that make up the pelvic floor.  Tension in these muscles is the same as in other areas of our body – during times of stress, the tension can be painful, and can eventually become a chronic problem.

Yoga is an ideal, holistic way to lessen pelvic pain caused by pelvic floor muscle tension.  The gentle stretching of these muscles that results from a basic yoga practice, combined with stress-reducing breathing exercises and meditation, can work to coax the pelvic floor to relax and “reset” itself, providing relief from what can be a truly debilitating problem. The ongoing stress-reduction and balance that yoga offers can go a long way towards keeping your symptoms under control.

As with all of our students, your sessions will be designed around you, creating an intuitive flow that explores your strengths, respects your limits, and changes with you as your abilities evolve. In addition to working with poses, focus will be placed on relaxation techniques for tension and stress reduction.
